Poltergeist The term Poltergeist was derived from the German word poltern meaning “to rumble” or “to make noise” and the word geist meaning “ghost” or “spirit”. A Poltergeist Haunting usually consists with the movement of objects, lights turning off and on, strange noises and even sometimes a weird odor can be detected.

A theory is said that most types of this Haunting occur around women of an adolescent age, although young men and adult families living in households with large amounts of negative energy have also reported witnessing this type of Haunting. There are those who claim that Poltergeist activity is consistently stronger within the homes of young women who possess a medium or sensitive ability. It is said that these women generate a larger amount of energy through their younger years allowing a ghost or spirit to use them as a vessel into our realm. In the 1930’s Nandor Fodor came to the conclusion that Poltergeist Activity is generated by a select group of young women who have the ability to project their repressed anger and hostility in an unconscious form of Psychokinetic Energy.

Some scientists have claimed that this activity is only witnessed when someone is present, therefore this person may not realize that they are the agent for the activity and NOT a Poltergeist. Studies have been conducted using unstable children and youths who are angry and discoveries have been made on them causing the activity. Some scientists also claim that they have witnessed encounters while an agent was present and emotionally stable. Either way, anger is a key component of Poltergeist Activity.

In most cases the activity has been witnessed as more of a docile and a nuisance to those who experience living with these unknown intruders. Of course there have been reports of people being attacked by these entities, usually harmed with physical assaults, scratching, biting and in some cases sexual molestation. These stories are rare but history has provided documentation proving the existence of malevolent Poltergeist Activity dating back as far as 850 AD. (See Ghost History)

These occurrences usually disappear quickly without notice and may return sporadically. There have never been any discoveries on the reason for the rapid activity. This is why skeptics claim to point to more realistic possibilities than spiritual, such as a train or large truck passing by the location and causing the home or business to shake.

Along with a Residual Haunting, a theory that rocks, walls or foundation built with high amounts of Limestone & Quartz can usually be discovered in cases of Poltergeist Activity. Some scientists claim that these minerals have the ability to raise the Electromagnetic Fields within and around them. So before claiming to be a witness, always do your research and look at all possibilities before concluding to be the lucky roommate of a Poltergeist Haunting. This includes the history of the land that your location was built on.
